Earlier this month we were delighted to work with the team at Reload Greece. They were founded in 2012 after seeing the inspirational effects of young entrepreneurs in Greece during the crisis. Youth unemployment in Greece hit a staggering 60% in March of 2013. Even now it stands at around 45%. Finding a positive response to this depressing figure seemed a truly worthwhile cause to be involved with. We were brought in to help the entrepreneurs at their accelerator programme on pitching with confidence and storytelling.

RG Challenge 2017

We worked with a fantastic group of young entrepreneurs in RG Challenge 2017, an accelerator programme for start-ups. From finding novel ways of transforming the nuisance of sea grass into something beautiful (phee.gr) to making use of surplus medicines to save lives (givmed.com) all the businesses had novel and useful propositions.

We worked with the entrepreneurs on storytelling and pitching with confidence. As the programme was based in the fantastic surroundings of London Business School we took full advantage of the beautiful gardens. We used the challenges of speaking in the outdoors to help the team to project with confidence and clarity.

Here is a video about the programme. In the middle you can see the teams in LBS’ gardens getting their voices in shape for their pitches:

Pitching with confidence

The team used storytelling techniques to refine their pitches. Using examples from Aristotle (appropriately enough) to Donald Trump the teams really got creative with this approach. As the teams only had 5 minutes for their pitches they had to make sure they covered their key points in a memorable way for the judges and investors in the audience. We looked at engaging emotions and values as well as logic in the pitches. Emphasising the effect on real people’s lives of the products or services brought the presentations to life and clarified the opportunities for investors.

RG Challenge built up to the pitch event on the 17th floor of the Shard hosted by the University of Warwick. The teams delivered some fantastic performances. RG Challenge had helped the teams grow in confidence and authority harnessing their passion for building great businesses. The economic and social benefits of the businesses were clear. MSB Executive were delighted to support RG Challenge.

We wish all the businesses from RG Challenge the very best for the future. For more information on this programme, visit the Reload Greece Challenge 2017 website.
